Essential choices, optional preferences and no hidden tracking.

1. Scope
This covers cookies and similar storage on the SerumWrites website. External reading and listening services control their own storage. We currently embed no third-party audio player or advertising script.
2. Necessary storage and security
serumwrites.consent.v1 in localStorage remembers category choices, notice version, choice time and expiry for up to 180 days. It respects your selection rather than repeatedly asking. It is not an account or server-side contract receipt. If storage is unavailable, the choice applies only to the visit.
Cloudflare may use necessary security cookies when protecting the hosted site. These depend on the actual response; we do not claim every visitor receives a fixed named cookie. Hosting and security processing is separate from optional analytics.
When you choose sign-in, necessary Supabase session and PKCE cookies use the sb-mimyjoynwozzekvaiyhu-auth-token name and possible numbered chunks or code-verifier suffix. They are Secure, HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax and are used only for authentication, refresh and account security. Authentication uses browser-session cookies by default. If you explicitly select Remember me, authentication cookies can persist for up to 30 days from their most recent issue; actual token/session validity can expire earlier. A necessary sw_session_mode cookie preserves this session choice, for the browser session by default or up to 30 days when requested. The sign-in code-verifier cookie lasts up to 10 minutes. Browser session-restore features can preserve session cookies, so use Sign out on shared devices. Sign-out clears this device session and its remembered mode. Necessary account cookies do not wait for optional tracking consent. No advertising or analytics cookies are introduced by account sign-in.
3. Optional preferences
Only after permission, serumwrites.saved.v1 persists saved public story identifiers and serumwrites.motionPaused.v1 persists a presentation preference. Without permission, those controls work for the visit only. These keys are not sent to our database. They hold no payment details or credentials but can still relate to browser activity.
4. Analytics and advertising
No audience analytics, advertising pixel, session replay, chat recorder or cross-site tracking integration is enabled. There is nothing in those categories to accept today. Rotating links to our published story do not activate tracking. Adding optional integrations requires updated provider and storage disclosures, real default-off loading controls and any required fresh consent before use.
5. Your choice
On a first visit, Necessary only declines all optional storage; Accept all enables every optional category actually offered, currently preferences only. Manage preferences opens the detailed choice. Acceptance and refusal are offered together with the same prominence. Optional categories start off. Cookie settings in the footer reopens the choice. Saving preferences off removes the saved-story and motion keys and stops future writes. Clearing site data also removes the choice, so the next visit asks again.
Withdrawal stops future optional activity; it does not delete data already held elsewhere. See Privacy Policy section 7 for requests. An expired or unrecognized notice version is treated as no current optional permission. Old consent for one purpose cannot authorize a different new purpose.
